Blackjack Essential Basics – Part One

The basic premise of the game is to be given cards totaling up to twenty-one. Each blackjack player is handed two cards. When a blackjack player is given a 9 or lower value card and an Ace they’ve been handed a soft hand. When the black jack player receives no Ace cards it is called as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been given to all players at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, each gambler is provided the opportunity to make one of six choices:

Taking another card (Hit): When a blackjack player announces "hit me" the dealer will deal them another card, if the adding of that card makes the value of the hand to exceed twenty one the gambler will have busted and that is the end of the game, if the card makes the total to 21 the black jack player wins and if the total has not yet reached 21 they are still in the game.

Keeping the hand you have been given: If a player is happy with the hand they will stand. As soon as this has happened the croupier will reveal their hand and the gambler who has accumulated twenty one or the nearest to twenty one will win.

Doubling Down: A player may ask to double down which doubles the bet they have placed. As soon as you have taken this procedure you can only be given one additional card. The specifics of doubling down are often out lined by the table or casino rules so before playing be sure you are at ease with the house established rules. If you are betting at a web-based casino this is usually very simple.
